Blogger Party wear Edit with AJ Odudu
When it comes to the word ‘party’, there is always one particular blogger that springs to mind.… meet Motel #megababe AJ Odudu. Without a doubt one of the most fun, down to earth and GAWJUS girls we’ve had the pleasure of working with this year; with an infectious laugh, incredible DJ talents and A-list party hopping prowess, we couldn’t imagine a better fit to showcase our new party styles this season. We got all the goss from AJ from her party prep tips to what kind of music gets her shaking her stuff on the dance floor!
What are your top three party essentials?
Perfume, big hair and lip gloss. A statement necklace is also perfect if you’re going from dusk to dance floor, as they jazz up an outfit instantly. (That’s 4…I know :)
What’s the one song that’s guaranteed to get every party going when you’re DJing?
It totally depends on the party and the crowd but Martin Solveig & GTA- Intoxicated and David Zowie’s House Every Weekend is still proving to be popular floor-fillers when I play them but if in doubt, Beyonce. Every time.
So many parties and outings in such a short space of time can be a killer sometimes, what’s your party prep routine to survive party season?
During the party season I like to be in the house and then straight back out dancing so I pop on my iPod shuffle to get some motivating tunes on, have a little sing in the shower, stick on my fake nails, use some dry shampoo, pick up my portable phone chargers and wear clothes that don’t need ironing. I do my make up on the go and then voila! I’m ready to party.
What’s your favourite thing about party season?
The chance to dress up more and gingerbread lattes.
Where will we be able to find you this party season?
I’ll be spinning for Motel Rocks and Skinny Dip London to kick off the party season, presenting on 4Music and as I’m a girl about town, I’ll be where the beats are heavy and the bubbles are flowing. During the day you’ll find me eating bangers and mash somewhere cosy and if you’re an early riser like me, you’ll catch me in a fitness class or running around my favourite parks in London. I post a lot of my daily life on Intagram, Twitter and my blog so you won’t have to look for me too hard :) It’ll be the easiest game of hide and seek you’ve ever played.
What are your wardrobe and beauty must-haves for this party season?
Fur coat, a gorgeous clutch bag, chunky heels and sparkly tights. My beauty bag consists of rich moisturiser and gold eyeshadow.
Christmas Eve or New Years Eve?
Christmas Eve of course. You get presents the next day.
What’s the best party you’ve ever been to, and why?
So many! I adore wedding parties as I love, love, birthday bashes are great, especially my own (biased but last year I drove around London in a limo playing pop classics like the Backstreet Boys, Bewitched and The Spice Girls before staying in The Clock Tower for 2 nights with my mates) and I enjoy all Christmas parties (yes I’ve dropped the C bomb in October) because not only are there merry songs and festive nibbles, but it’s the one time of year that I get to dress unashamedly like a disco ball! I really like shaking my sparkly shimmy.
This week I DJ-ed at Sushi Samba to warm up for Oliver Heldens which was awesome. It’s an iconic hotspot in London and the atmosphere was incredible but my favourite one that springs to mind however is when Kim and Khloé Kardashian graced our humble shores for the UK Hairfinity launch at Il Bottaccio last year. Whilst there was a plethora of famous faces including Marvin and Rochelle Hulmes and Nick Grimshaw, I was most entertained by my friend Arielle Free who had mounted a glass table to dance and was pointing out the much talked about Kim Kardashian lookalike. I then had a photo with the real Kim and Khloe Kardashian, who went on to say that they really liked my shoes. Surely the sign of a good night right?
What party styles are you loving from motelrocks.com right now?
In addition to all of the sequinned dresses and playsuits, I’m in love with the black flared jumpsuit and velvet dresses. This seasons must haves or what?!
