I’ve worked at Motel for just over a year now and I manage all of the PR activity for the brand. A large part of my role is generating as much exposure for the brand as possible and so I spent a lot of time meeting and liaising with fashion editors, bloggers, stylists and celebrities to showcase the collection.
It’s a really sociable and varied role, no two days are ever the same – which I love! The collections are always really strong which makes my job so much easier as I genuinely love the product and enjoytelling people about it.
I’m also incredibly lucky that my job allows me to travel too and I regularly visit press and stylists in New York to run through new season collections over there.
PR is a 24-7 type of job so in a way, you’re always at work. There’s industry events on most nights of the week which I try to attend to catch up with contacts and network, and I’m constantly on the look out for new PR opportunities for the brand. It’s non-stop, but I know I wouldn’t want to do anything else.
I'd say to anyone interested in working in fashion to make the most of every opportunity you get. Interning is great to get experience and show enthusiasm in every job you do (even the boring ones - it pays off in the end, honest!)
