As part of our Meet Motel series, we catch up with Soheila Dolton - Photography Manager at Motel.
How long have you worked for Motel?
I've worked for Motel for about a year and a half… Without a doubt the most exciting and life changing 18 months of my life.
What’s the best part about your job?
That's a tough one! I love my job for so many reasons.. But I would say the best part would have to be when I actually get out on location doing photoshoots. Seeing all the planning come together on the day, with babe models showcasing all our newest and hottest lines.. It's an awesome feeling. I'd also have to say that the people I work with make my job something to love for sure. Working for Motel is definitely like being part of family and I think that's something really rare and special.
And the worst?
Not knowing when to switch off!! I'm very passionate when it comes to work so can often have trouble walking away at the end of a day.
How would you describe your own style?
Vintage.. Grunge.. Denim obsessed!
What are your three 'Desert Island' Motel Pieces?
I love love love all the most recent 90s inspired pieces. The Lyndie Crop is a simple but classic shape that is super versatile, and the Linda Top is SO hot. Pretty much anything involving mesh gets my vote right now! Umm, that's two, so one more… Has to be something from Motel Vintage.. Oh, the new 'A' Line Check Skirt! Vintage shirts reworked into a super hot skirt, love it. And perfect with the Lyndie Crop.
Who's the most famous person you've ever met?
I once met Karen O and Nick Zinner from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.. I was pretty young and couldn't deal with the excitement so just stood there saying nothing, VERY uncool. Oh, and once I was just a couple meters away from Tyra Banks having dinner. Does that count as a 'meeting'? Probably not..
Who in fashion would you most like to meet or work with?
I would love to get more new and exciting models involved with our shoots.. Anais Pouliout is someone that I think has an incredibly striking yet natural look. Charlotte Free and Sky Ferreria too. Working with any of those girls would be incredible.
What are you currently listening to?
Favourite song of all time, This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody) by Talking Heads.
Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to work in Fashion?
Never stop dreaming.
